While this month has been bitterly cold here in New York I have managed to get quite a bit of organization done on my craft room. I have been sifting through my stash of yarn. I managed to bag up two grocery bags worth to donate to my daughter who also crochets. I desperately need to go through all my other crafting supplies and destash and organize those as well.
It really amazes me as to how much I have accumulated over the years. Having to move my crafts downstairs enlightened me as to how much I actually have. If you are like me and getting into organizing your craft room, definitely don’t keep what you are not going to use or have not used in a long time. I actually found my Serger that I have only used like two times ever in the ten years I have owned it. I plan on donating it to someone who can use it. No sense in letting it collect dust and take up space.
If I can inspire you to get yourself more organized I hope that you will share pictures on our Facebook page at Yarn It Out Stitch Social. Link here: https://www.facebook.com/YARNITOUTSTITCHSOCIAL/
Donating unused craft items to local guilds or churches who have crochet, knitting, sewing groups will help them make items for charity that they contribute to. You will be helping a lot of people give back to their community and by giving someone a handmade item with your unused items. Think of how many people sitting in a nursing home who receive a blanket or shawl with the yarn or fabric that you donated to a local guild and how that person feels when they receive that gift of love. Be the difference in your community by giving to those in need.

Once you have all your crafts organized try to keep it that way. I know it’s easy to say but very hard to do. I am guilty of leaving items out and not returning them to their rightful place: however, if we can be more disciplined and keep our craft rooms tidy we can actually be more creative and accomplish so much more.Be mindful of how messy your room gets and how that makes you feel. If it needs to be more tidy deny yourself working on any project until your work surface is clear of clutter and supplies.
